Rio Creek Aviation Foundation will hold it’s November meeting on the 15th at the Airport in the club House. Feel free to join us at 9:00 AM.
The Runway is still soft but Flying has begun! There is one spot on the east end of the runway marked with cones that you should avoid, but plenty of flights last weekend for our Young Eagles Rally and Al’s Birthday!
This years Rio Creek Fly-In will be Saturday July 5th starting at 7 AM and going until late afternoon. Breakfast, Lunch, Polka Band, Plane Rides and DJ music after the Polka Band is done.
On the day that Sonny Raasch took the first flight out of Rio Creek, 2 songs went gold! “Smoke on the Water”…..and believe it or not the “Monster Mash”!!!! August 28 1973, Celebrating 40 Years of Rio creek Airport!!!!!
The first flight out of Rio Creek Airport was piloted by Sonny Raasch, a cheese maker at the Rio Creek Cheese Factory, on August 28, 1973 in a 1946 415-C ERCO Ercoupe(N2486H), owned by his instructor, Don Wilson.
