St. Paul's Lutheran School (Montpelier) Visits RCA
Presented By
On May 18, 2006, the Rio Creek Aviation Foundation hosted students from St. Paul's Lutheran School in Montpelier, WI. 29 students and chaperones stopped to see the airplanes and find out what a small grassroots airport is all about.
Don Walter explains the instrument panel of a Cessna 172.
There were different stations set up with a pilot at each one telling the students about different aspects of aviation. Splitting the kids up into groups allows for more age specific information.
Brian Dauck shows a group the homebuilt Pietenpol (NX25080).
There were four basic areas that the groups attended:
1) Don Walter explained the cockpit including instruments and controls.
2) Brian Dauck explained the different types and styles of airplanes.
3) Hans Shin explained aviation charts and weather.
4) Duane Fameree explained the runway numbering system.
Hans Shin uses an aviation chart and explains the differences from an ordinary road map.
Duane Fameree shows some students the runway at RCA.
Brian Dauck stands in front of the Ercoupe (N94888) while explaining the different types of airplanes.
